McCall (1802-1868) was a West Point graduate who served in many capacities and in several theaters. He was captured during the Civil War, exchanged, and then resigned due to poor health. His Mexican-American War experiences cover pp. 429-485, in which are described all the actions in Texas, Matamoros, and Veracruz. During the war he was detached to Santa Fe.
Condition
Covers waterstained at lower outer corners and spotted; front pastedown, flyleaf and first few pages waterstained; lower corner of front flyleaf missing; waterstained modern book plate on front pastedown.
