Description
3rd-2nd millennium BC. A carved haematite cylinder seal depicting bulls and worshippers, accompanied by a museum quality impression and a copy of a typed, and signed scholarly note by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder seal of black stone, 19 x 11mm. Two crossed bulls on a stand, a worshipper at each end, one in long, the other in short clothes. Syria, c. 2100-1800 B.C.'. 5.65 grams, 19mm (3/4"). From a private collection of seals and amulets, the property of a Canadian gentleman living in London; from his father's collection formed in the late 1960s to 1980s; inventory number 98.
