An original old carved wooden post with a "flock of birds" as the centerpiece and finial. The great thing about this post is that it included the original staff, something I have not seen before on any example offered. The Staff is adorned with old beads and a bronze bell, and represents kalao birds/ or "porpianong". Such a staff would have been displayed during the working competitions on the yam fields. "Sejen" means "the one who follows". The staff and avian images were meant to watch over the young people while they were working. The Staff measures 33.5 x 19 inches.
