BOOKS (5) Vols French costume plates, postcards, 5 pieces with bright color plates: 1) Mary Chamot. French Costumes. The Hyperion Press, London/Paris/New York. 1939. Hardcover. 9 1/4 x 12 1/2 inches. 23 numbered pages including List of plates, with tipped on Errata slip, followed by 40 color plates each with numbered and titled text page preceding it. Pages are dis-bound, with remnant of adhesive on binding side. Ex-library with markings on title page and front endpapers, but plates are clean. 2) A. Robida. Mesdames Nos Aieules. Librairie Illustree, Paris. No date bu circa 1891. Hardcover with leather spine, marbled sides and endpapers, top page edges gilt. 4 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches. 254 pages with 29 color plates and black and white line drawings. Text in French. 3) Les Costumes du Pays de France. Aline Keim, Line Coline. Editions Nilsson, Paris. Circa 1929. Loose in hardcover folder. 9 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches. Three pages of text and 55 brightly colored pochoir prints. Some wear around edges, light soiling to a few plates. Case worn and scratched. 4) French postcard album "Cartes Postales" with 27 vintage postcards of costume illustrations (including 8 loose--slightly too large to fit slots). No writing on reverse sides. Some discolored where one mounted card faces two cards. Album measures about 8 x 11 inches and has mostly empty pages. 5) Les Costumes a Traverse l'Histoire: Jeu de Familles. Fernand Nathan. No date. French costume card game in plastic box. With 44 of the 48 cards called for. Card size 2 3/4 x 4 1/ 4 inches.

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925
