GEORGE EDWARDS (ENGLISH, 1694-1773) ORNITHOLOGICAL PRINTS, LOT OF FOUR, hand-colored, on laid paper, one example with "GR" watermark, comprising "Black Peteril", "Black & White Spotted Peteril", "Black & White Dobchick", and "Grey-Headed Duck", the first lettered "Published by Geo. Edwards 1746", the second two lettered "Published according to Act of Parliament" and "by George Edwards", with dates "September 1745" and "March 1746", the fourth example lacking lettering other than plate number. Unframed. 18th century. Largest 11 1/4" x 8 7/8" OA.
Excellent condition overall, expected toning, particularly to edges, one or two minimal spots of foxing, some later pencil notations, some minimal edge tears (longest less than 1/4" L), "Dobchick" example with a single minute hole in upper left quadrant.
