LUMAN WATSON (CINCINNATI, OH, ACTIVE 1819-1834) WALNUT TALL-CASE CLOCK, wooden movement, bell chime; the hood having broken-arch pediment centering turned vasiform finial, above tombstone-arch glass door flanked by turned columns, above rectangular case with chamfered corners, panel door with cut-out ogee top edge, set on plinth base with simple cut-out ogee skirt and bracket feet, retains warm surface; painted wooden dial with floral spray decoration and seconds dial. Retains pendulum and weights. 19th century. 90" HOA, 18 7/8" W, 9" D.
Good condition overall, some expected minor natural splitting to wood, area of loss to molding above plinth base, minor loss to proper right back foot, some restoration to case, including pediment likely replaced, repaired split to front panel of plinth base, patch repair to door, small patch repair to one side panel of hood; movement with some original parts replaced, some restoration. Not currently in working condition, seconds hand keeps time, but hour and minute hands appear frozen, likely needing some adjustment or cleaning (see Catalogue Guarantee).
