Title leaf (verso blank); leaf of text in German ("Schule und Farbe. Fortietzung") printed on both sides; 20 color lithographed plates with multiple designs. 45x32 cm (17¾x12½"), loose as issued in cloth-backed decorative boards folder, ribbing ties.

Striking Art Nouveau designs for textiles. OCLC/WorldCat lists only four copies published by Hessling, three with the date listed as 1901 (at the New York Public Library, Syracuse University, and the University of Kentucky), and one with the date 1910 (at the New York Public Library, perhaps a duplicate, and possibly erroneous, listing). There are also eight listings for copies published by C.F. Schulz in Plauen, Germany, dated 1910 or 1925.

Condition

Folder with some rubbing and edge wear, a few small stains, light foxing, front joint starting to split; darkening to pastedowns and title leaf; very good.
