Description

Old yet near-fresh, full-leather book filled with 60 unique Arts & Crafts 2-color designs. Arts & Crafts hand-lettered fonts of mottos, sayings, etc., embellished with Art Nouveau floral frames in contrasting colors. 60-page book does not repeat any designs--all different, all original. Bound in full green suede leather that is still fresh and soft--so soft you can use your finger to write your name on it. Includes the original box with moire design which still retains the original end label showing the title within. Bottom section of box very good plus; top section with two corner folds split and a cracked joint. One corner with small piece of tape. Front of box slightly soiled with a couple of small stains. Book is still incased in its original linen/vellum paper which is now in two sections. One-of-a-kind item. Books like this are almost always found with the leather cover dried out and crumbling badly. Not this one--it feels like a fairly new book. Interior pages fine. Each design is a motto, poem, saying done in expert hand-lettering typical of Arts & Crafts fonts of the day. The lettering is enhanced with a beautiful art nouveau/arts & crafts floral frame that is right at home with Stickley, Limbert, Van Briggle, Roycroft and other authentic Mission furnishings. Slight variation in leather cover around edges where brown leather is showing through it may possibly be sunning but it's been in the box all these years so I don't see how it could be sunned. 5 x 7.5 60 pp.
