17th century Dutch engraving depicting a classical scene of battle between the Holy Roman Empire and the Dutch. Upper right: "Sesde Taafreel. Vierde Deel. Fol. 3." Text bottom margin: "De Roomse Schachers, dood geslagen of geknoopt. De Noor, de Sax, de Deen, wie Vriesland feeft gestroopt. Syn door de Leeuwen fier, verwonnen, Adel Steeden, Stadhouder, Hof, en al is vry in alle leedn." Unknown artist and publisher. Framed: 15 1/2" x 21 1/2" Very good condition. Slight toning. Little to no foxing. Under glass and examined out of frame.
