Description
Native American, Pacific Northwest, Kwakwaka'wakw people (Kwakiutl), ca. 1966 CE. A charming sun mask, carved from wood. This is a very well-done reproduction of a museum piece, made by Lelooska. The original was made at Bella Bella near Millbank Sound and acquired in 1898 by the Provincial Museum, Victoria. Bright colors and mythical forms dominate the piece, demonstrating the incredibly unique visual style of the people of the Pacific Northwest. Size: 18" W x 17.85" H (45.7 cm x 45.3 cm); 21" H (53.3 cm) on included custom stand.
