Item Details
Description
Fine Rookwood Vellum glaze plaque, a view of Mt. Rainier painted, circa 1927, by Fred Rothenbusch. Monogrammed by Mr. Rothenbusch in the lower right hand corner. Not examined out of the original Arts & Crafts finished corner frame with its intact backing. Marked on the back with a circular Rookwood logo paster and with an original Rookwood typewritten label which reads, ""In Rainier National Park" F. Rothenbusch." Size is approximately 14 1/4 by 16 1/4 inches. Uncrazed and brilliantly colored. Rookwood Vellum plaques of this size are quite rare and seem to only have been done by Rothenbusch and Ed Diers in the late 1920' and early 1930's. They are a combination of obvious artistic talent and production technology that allowed such a large rectangle of clay to be fired without warping and crazing. Rare and worth the wait.
