Item Details

Description

Black Opal lamp vase with subtle bellflower decoration done by Lorinda Epply in 1934. Large flowers and vines encircle the vase under the deep maroon glaze with blue hazing, one of the trademarks of Black Opal glaze. Impressed marks on the bottom include the Rookwood logo, the date and shape number 2785. On the side of the vase can be found another impressed company logo and Epply's incised monogram. The hand thrown vase is uncrazed and has a cast hole in the bottom for potential wiring. Height is 13 1/4 inches.
