Description
A nicely carved Maya cylinder from El Salvador, c. AD 400 - 700, sitting on three low domed feet, each side with a angled registered containing three rows of glyph-like characters in relief. H: 8 1/4 in (20.8 cm). An attractive example with remnants of orange burnished surfaces under mineral deposits. Ex New York City private collection acquired in the mid 1980's.
