19th century Songye N'kisi Magic sculpture. A very fine and very rare old wooden magic fetish sculpture from the Songye peoples, DRC / Congo, Africa.A well weathered/ well handled surface patina with numerous embedded brass tacks as eyes and stylized human form, metal tongue and remains of animal hide skirt. The numerous eyes likely represent the "all seeing, all knowing" aspect of the spirit of the fetish. A Very Old style not common on the market.* Ex Collection Roger Bourahimou, Brussels, Belgium.Measures 13 inches tall on wooden base.
Condition
heavily eroded top of head, overall well worn and well handled.
