Description
**First Time At Auction**
Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. late 6th to early 5th century BCE. A hollow-cast terracotta bust of an elegant woman with one arm holding up a veil. She displays perky breasts atop a slender torso, with a petite neck supporting a faded visage. Such an image most likely represented an idealized goddess rather than a realistic portrait of an individual. Remnants of the figure's original white pigmentation are still visible across the obverse side. Drilled through the bottom for display. Custom stone display stand included. Size: 2.5" W x 2.625" H (6.4 cm x 6.7 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
This is a fragment from a larger figure. Age-commensurate surface wear, fading to facial features, small nicks to face, veil, arms, and torso, with minor discoloration, otherwise very good. Remnants of original white pigmentation across front side, and light earthen deposits throughout.
