Space Shuttle Columbia STS – 61C. Crew signed launch cover, January 12, 1986, also with a landing cancellation, Edwards AFB, January 18th. STS-61-C was the twenty-fourth mission of NASA's Space Shuttle program, and the seventh mission of Space Shuttle Columbia. The mission launched from Florida's Kennedy Space Center on January 12, 1986, and landed six days later.. STS-61-C's seven-person crew included the second African-American shuttle pilot, future NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, the first Costa Rican-born astronaut, Franklin Chang-Diaz, and the second sitting politician to fly in space, Representative Bill Nelson (D-FL). Other crew members signing were: Commander Robert Gibson and Mission Specialists: George nelson, Steven Hawley and Robert Cenker. Also included is a 6 ½” x 3 ¾” card with a NASA crew photo, crew patch photo and Houston launch date cancellation.
