Description
Beige with slightly turned-up brim and wide dented crown, underside having a band of pale pink satin, structured silk and tulle band with silk lining, decorated with pink and plum-colored peonies. Label "L. Leopold Emmelhainz Nachf/Wiesbaden", lot 156, Christie's, July 11, 1967, Helen Larson called this auction the "Queen's Auction" due to so many objects with royal provenance in the sale. The ensemble was part of a larger group of objects cataloged as follows: "The majority of the following dresses were the property of the late Princess Marie Elizabeth of Wied of Schloss Monrepos, Neuwied (b. 1880); many earlier dresses belonged to her grandmother, Princess Louise of Prussia"possibly belonging to Princess Marie Elizabeth of Wied of Schloss Monrepos, Neuwied (b. 1880). 19 1/2 x 5.(Some losses to flowers, breaks to stems, silk lining fragile) straw excellent, overall good.
