Description
A nice pair of Mayan ceramic avian whistles, Ulua Valley, Honduras. The first, AD 300 - 600, with ovoid body and tapered mouthpiece, short wings and detailed head. H: 3 in (7.6 cm). The second, AD 600 - 900, with square body adorned with geometric designs in relief. L: 2 3/4 in (7 cm). Both nice examples with light deposits, the first with nice solid tone. Ex Coliseum Coin Exchange, the first (June 1984) and the second (Apr, 1985) lot 335.
