Description
Northern Italy, Etruria, ca. late 4th to early 3rd century BCE. Simply stunning, this mold-formed terracotta figural fragment represents a woman, perhaps a goddess, draped in a flowing chiton. One hand rests underneath her perky breasts, and rounded shoulders frame her overall stature. Her chest boasts a plethora of exquisite finery, including a large necklace with an ovoid medallion, drooping earrings, and a choker necklace with a shell-form pendant. A timeless visage is brought forth by a sculpted nose, umber-hued eyes, and rosy lips, with locks of plaited hair cascading gently across her shoulders. Noteworthy to this figure are the finely-painted surfaces brought forth in hues of crimson, citrine, wheat, and chalky-white. A stunning example from the later stages of Etruscan artwork! Size: 5.625" H (14.3 cm).

Condition
This is a fragment of a larger figure. Expected age-commensurate surface wear, small nicks to peripheries, body, and head, minor chips to pigmentation around peripheries, with some fading to facial features, otherwise very good. Nice earthen and mineral deposits as well as fabulous remnants of original pigmentation throughout.
