Description
A very interesting map of the Siege of La Rochelle (by the French) in 1572-3. La Rochelle is situated in Western France on the sea, north of Bordeaux. It was one of the early cities where Calvanism spread and the town became a center for the Huguenots. The French navy blockaded it in 1571, and the siege began the following year. The conflict ended with the 1573 Peace of La Rochelle, which restricted the Protestant worship to the three cities of Montauban, Nîmes and La Rochelle. French and German text. From: "Catherine de Medicis et Henri III" Historia p.90-91.
