Description
1567 PLUTARCH Parallel Lives Latin Alexander the Great Cicero Julius Caesar Otho
“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
― Plutarch
‘Plutarch’s Lives’ or ‘Parallel Lives’ is one of the most important and comprehensive collection of biographies of famous Greek and Roman figures. Plutarch was not so much focused on providing a historical account of these famous individuals as much as he was seeking to write of the type of person they were and the life in which they lived. He focuses on Alexander the Great, Romulus and Remus, Demosthenes, Cicero, Brutus, Julius Caesar, and many other important figures.
This mid-16th-century printing of Plutarch’s famous work was edited with commentary by Hermann Cruser. This third volume from the 1566 edition features the biographies of 12 figures including Alexander the Great, Demosthenes, Cicero, Brutus, Mark Anthony, Artaxerxes, Otho, Galba, and Julius Caesar.
