The most appreciated edition of the "Vite", translated into the vernacular: "This is the definitive print of Domenichi’s Plutarch, containing his last corrections, and having been, after his death, revised on the Greek text by Ghini. Preceded by the dedication to the Duke of Urbino Guidubaldo Della Rovere and Vita di Plutarco, both by T. Porcacchi, and copious indexes.
Plutarch of Cheronea (46-120 AD) , taking up an idea already implemented by other ancient writers, narrates the lives of 23 great Greek characters, opposing them each to that of a Roman; from page 403 of the second vol. follow the lives of 6 other characters (Homer, Evagoras, Pomponius Atticus, Plato, Aristotle and Charlemagne) taken from various other authors.
