Description
Fragment from the "Gosenshu", the 'Second Imperial Anthology of Japanese Poetry', an Imperial 'waka' collection completed by Onakatomi-no- Yorimoto, Minamoto-no-Shitagou, Kiyohara-no-Motosuke, Ki-no-Tokifumi and Sakanoue-no-Mochiki in 951 CE by order of the Emperor Murakami. Page from Book XVIII, poems 1251, 1252. This calligraphy attributed to Asukai Masachika (1417-1490). Laid to card with collector's label verso, second label in Japanese verso, along with Forsythe Gallery of Ann Arbor, MI label. Housed in black stick frame, under glass, OS: 13 1/2" x 9 3/4", SS: 9 1/2" x 6 1/2". Very good condition, old repairs.
