Description
Fragment from the "Shinkokin Wakashu" (informally, Shinkokinshu), an anthology of nearly 2,000 Japanese poems (uta, or waka), compiled and edited during the first two decades of the 13th century. This calligraphy attributed to Konoe Masaie (1444-1505). Book IV, poems 353, 354, 355. Laid to card with gilt line, Japanese labels and Forsythe Gallery of Ann Arbor, MI label verso, in black stick frame, under glass, OS: 13 1/4" x 9 3/4", SS: 9 1/4" x 6". Very good condition, old repairs.
