Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Guanajuato River Valley, Chupicuaro culture, ca. 300 BCE to 100 CE. A lovely hand-made terracotta vessel with a large perforated footed base, a constricted neck, a wide plate with rolled shoulders, a shallow bowl cavity, and a rolled, in-turned rim. The dish is covered in wonderful cream-and-black-hued painted designs, in stepped and linear patterns, on an earth tone red slip. Size: 5.75" W x 4" H (14.6 cm x 10.2 cm).
