This is the first edition of Janet Flanner's first and only novel, "The Cubical City" (426 pages), published by G. P. Putnam's Sons in 1926. The cover has scuffs, but no prominent stains. The spine is moderately slanted, and the lettering faded, but legible. The ends have shallow curl. The gilt lettering and design to the front are clean and clearly legible. The illustrated inside cover spreads are clean and unfaded, but each is cracked at the gutter (see photo). No pages, including the end pages, are loose. There are no stamps or other attachments. The top edges, dyed red, are faded, and there are light scuffs to the outside and bottom edges, but these are clean overall. The page faces are almost uniformly clean. The spot stains to the first text page are the most notable stains. There is no writing. The binding is not tight, but it is secure throughout. There are no page tears or notable creases.
