This is number 91 of a limited, 100-copy printing, on hand-made paper, of Vera Salomons' homage to the french illustrator, Gravelot (1699-1733), published by John & Edward Bumpus in 1911. This copy is signed by Salomons below the limitation number. The only other writing is a name, in ink, dated 1928, on the otherwise blank front end page. There are no stamps or other attachments. The cover, red moiré cloth background, extensive gilt decoration, is in very good condition, with shallow bumps to the outside corners and ends of the spine, which is slightly faded, but with no significant tears, no fade to the front or back boards, no notable stains, and no looseness at the hinges or spine. This copy appears to have been recovered, but there is no bindery attribution. The inside is very good overall. There is tanning to the first and last end pages, and there is a light stain to the bottom border of the first few pages. The page edges are sunned, but the page faces, other than the stains mentioned above, are clean throughout the book, with all text and illustrations as new. There are two frontispiece illustrations and 21 body illustrations (from Salomons' photos), these last having titled cover pages. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no notable tears or creases. The accompanying photos are accurate reflections of the book conditions.
