Description
Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 500 BCE. Large and lethal deep brown stone mace head. Once attached to a wooden shaft and capable of cracking open the skulls or breaking the bones of their foes. Carved with four sweeping diagonal fins and eight small pointed nodes to add further damage upon contact. Large central; shaft hole. Nice example! Size: 4.625" W x 4.12" H (11.7 cm x 10.5 cm)
