Description
Four (4) Ancient Apulian/Roman vessels. 1st-2nd items: Two (2) Apulian terracotta prochous vessels, one Gnathian ware vessel decorated with bands of grapes, ivy leaves, waves, and other geometric designs in applied white, yellow, and red pigments, one Xenon ware vessel decorated with band of laurel leaves and radiating lines in applied red pigment. Two Herakles/Hercules relief masks at the neck of each vessel. Vessels range in size from 6 3/4" H x 3" W to 7" H x 3" W. Circa 4th century B.C. 3rd-4th items: Two (2) Roman terracotta vessels, one amphora with rolled lip above double handles at neck and narrow tapered body and one water vessel with flared lip above elongated neck with one handle and rounded bottom. Includes 5 5/8" x 2 2 3/4" metal display stand with acrylic base. Vessels range in size from 9 1/4" H x 3" W to 10" H x 5" W. Circa 1st century B.C. to 1st century A.D. Condition
1st-2nd items: Overall very good condition considering age. Slight wear/fading to applied decorations. 3rd-4th items: Amphora vessel opening is blocked with red clay matter. Exterior wear to be expected from age, surface of water vessel.
