A very fine antique Chinese Ming Dynasty bronze censer, cast in a slightly compressed globular form, swelled on the shoulder, tapered gracefully to the banded rim, raised on three conical legs, two loop handles vertically everted from the gathering. The dome wooden lid decorated with open-work carving of scrolling tendrils, radiating toward the jade finial. The exterior carved in deep reliefs of vigorous dragons in pursuits of centralized flaming pearl enclosed within floral motif shaped cartouche. The metal patinated to a warm dark-brown tone. The bronze censer preciously displayed upon an elaborately carved hardwood stand.


Mark on base, embossed six script -KaiShu- characters mark, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Normal, considering ages and wears.
