A very fine antique Chinese bronze covered censer, cast in a slightly tapered globular form, swelled on the lower body, tapered gracefully to the opening rim, raised on three conical legs, two loop handles everted from the gathering lip in twisted rope motif. The dome wooden lid decorated with open-work carving of three ruyi motif, radiating toward the jade flower bud finial. Exquisitely displayed upon carved hardwood stand. The metal patinated to a warm dark brown tone and some milky blue-green encrustation.

Mark on base, embossed six script -KaiShu- characters mark, XuanDe Reign Period of Great Ming.

Excellent condition, with normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dent. Surface traced wear and or patinated, some corrosion of molted green-grayish crusted surface. Normal, considering ages and wears.
