This trial and the related events were the inspiration for Sir Walter Scott's novel, The Heart of Mid-Lothian. This octavo (8.75" x 6") is a fine copy, with the full leather cover, green background with gold lettering and decoration, unstained, unfaded and without tears. The spine is straight. The edges, gilt all-around, are bright and clean, with no scuffs of stains. The page faces are uniformly clean and unfaded, with all text, and the several full-page illustrations, as new. There are no tears or creases. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no stamps or other attachments. There is no writing.
