This is the first state of the noted first edition of George Herman Ruth’s Babe Ruth’s Own Book of Baseball (301 pages), published by Putnam’s Sons in 1928, with 31 illustrations.
This copy is in good condition, with a cover (app. 8.25" x 5.375") that is sunned to the spine, but which has no notable color fade to the back or front, on which the blue background and gold lettering and design are clean and legible. The spine, with shallow end wear, is slightly but reasonably secure, with some play, but with both front and back covers attached.
The only extraneous elements inside are a gift notation, in ink, dated September, 1928, to the front inside cover, a personal bookplate from the recipient of this book on the front inside cover (the name is blocked in the photo, but not in the book), and a small store stamp to the back inside cover.
There are occasional spot stains, none of which are significant. There are surface creases to a small number of pages. The only tear is to the top edge of one leaf, the photos between pages 144-145 (see photo). The binding is secure, with no loose or missing pages. All the photos and text are unfaded and clean. The accompanying photos are accurate reflections of the book conditions.

George Herman “Babe” Ruth, Jr. (February 6, 1895 – August 16, 1948) American professional baseball player whose career in Major League Baseball spanned 22 seasons, from 1914 through 1935.
Regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture, Ruth is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time. He was one of the first five inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.
This is a rare, first edition of Babe Ruth's Own Book of Baseball authored by “The Bambino.”
