Description
Meiji Period Satsuma, late 19th c., with mark of Meizan Hododa, the vase with handles having decoration of gilt opposing Phoenix birds at top, the body decorated with elder playing flute for his family on one side, courting cranes on the other, 14 1/4" x 6 3/4", repair to one handle; PLUS Charger decorated with Mother Reading to Daughter, bird approaching, five prunus cartouches, including an owl in a pine tree, the underside decorated with floral branches and leaf banding. 1 1/2" x 9 1/2" diam., good condition.
