Description
Japanese Porcelain Vase: Blue Dragon on Yellow Ground, is a work by Makuzu Kozan II (Japanese 1859-1940). The shape of the vase is inspired by ancient Chinese bronze Ku vessels. Finely created from porcelain, it is decorated with a dragon whose form coils around the vase. Its cobalt blue form contrasts with the yellow ground reminiscent of the imperial yellow color of Chinese porcelains. The shape and decoration reflects an interest in Japan during the early 20th century in Chinese porcelains. Comes with tomobako inscribed on the exterior and interior of the cover.
