Description
Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Greater Nicoya, ca. 300 to 800 CE. A large ceramic tripod bowl with tall rattling legs. The bowl is shallow and wide, perched atop the legs, its lower body and legs studded with applied coffee-bean-shaped decorative motifs. This type of bowl would have been used for large social occasions or to hold offerings. Rattles are still functional! Size: 12.5" W x 6.25" H (31.8 cm x 15.9 cm)
