Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A wonderfully-preserved cast bronze protome of a woman from the chest up. She has her hair in a simple bun at the base of her neck, with lightly incised lines giving it a slightly wavy appearance from the hairline. Her clothing is similarly simple, only visible because of a shallow line around her neck. She wears a large necklace with a rope-like chain and a sizeable, hanging pendant or jewel. Her face presents lines around the eyes, suggesting that she may be an older woman, and she wears a thoughtful expression with her mouth closed and her head tilted slightly upwards. Comes with custom stand. Size: 1.95" W x 2.75" H (5 cm x 7 cm); height on stand: 5.75" (14.6 cm).
