Description
Rome, ca. 100 to 400 CE and Byzantium, ca. 500 to 1000 CE. This is a pair of metal items. The first is a bronze applique showing the bust of a woman with her hair in a bun, an elegant long neck, and a draped article of clothing -- the level of detail is fine. This applique would most likely have been placed on a bronze vessel. The second item is a round silver pendant with a hook to attach it to a chain. The pendant depicts the Chi Rho, one of the earliest christograms, with a simple daisy motif. Size of largest: 2.2" L x 1.6" W (5.6 cm x 4.1 cm).
