Description
A nice pair of Egyptian amulets, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, the first a faience amulet of a Djed pillar representing Osiris, H: 24 mm, well-preserved with pale green glaze and horizontal suspension hole. The second is a brown steatite papyrus scepter, well-modeled with suspension loop at top. H: 21 mm. Ex Boston Museum of Fine Arts de-accession; previously in the collection of Horace L. Mayer who loaned and gifted items to the museum throughout the 1930's-60's. After his passing much of his remaining collection was gifted to the museum.
