A glazed and slip decorated ceramic dish with concentric rings to the centre, petals and band of text to the rim 'Stay me with flagons comfort me with apples:' quotation from the Song of Solomon 2:5 (King James Bible version): 'Stay with me flagons, comfort me with apples[; for I am sick of love]'; marked to the underside 'Godfrey Newcomb . 63'; by Godfrey Newcomb (d.2003) of Needham Pottery.
