RARE, The SOLID GOLD Chinese Qing Dynasty QianLong Reign Period snuff bottle; From private collections of Mrs. E. B. Greppo, of Los Angeles, CA., by inheritance. Acquired from H. Taylor Curtis Co. Salesroom on 915 W. Seventh St., Los Angeles. Behalf S. KAJIWARA of 939 W. 7th St. Los Angeles, CA; during Oriental Works of Art rare and valuable Antiquities sales commencing on February 1924.
In flattened ovoid shape body with dragon motif dome lid, the body intrigue decorated with relief of deer amidst The Three Friends of Winter, also known as Suihan Sanyou (or shochikubai), symbolize the pine, bamboo, and plum against mountainous landscape scene. Banded with repeated ruyi pendant on the neck.
Mark on base, incised four script -KaiShu- characters reign mark, enclosed by square frame border, QianLong Reign Period.
Dimensions: 3-1/2" H x 2-1/2" W
Weight: 117.5 grams.
