Description
VERY FINE Pair of Chinese Qing Dynasty ceremonial jade libation cups are formed in shape of standing PiXiu. Carved from an ovoid bulbous body, hollowed vessel emerging the PiXiu head. Facing veraciously straight forward with gaping mouth revealed the tongue and fangs. The rounded cavetto supported upon the two prominent legs and curled tail. Smaller PiXiu climbed across the gallery mouth, graciously curved unto the rim, creates arch looped handle. The jade shows grayish celadon color, with attractive sporadic golden russet inclusions and moist milky appearance. The jade ceremonial libation cups elegantly presented upon a carved hardwood stand, displayed inside a wooden framed glass box upon a metallic-purple silk covered pedestal, and carved along the base with attractive Longevity Shou medallions reliefs.
