SIX 19TH CENTURY BRASS INSIGNIA CLOTHING BUTTONS

Item Details

Description

Six brass shank buttons, each approx 1". Two with G.A.R. insignia, one navy, the other three with two horses rearing before an image of ships in a harbor. Horse buttons stamped "Horstmann Bros & Co." on reverse, Navy button stamped, "Waterbury Button Co.", and GAR buttons stamped, "Goodwins Pat. July 27 1876".

Provenance: Dr. Alan York Estate

Condition

All in good condition. GAR buttons exhibit slightly more wear and oxidation. All bear mild to moderate oxidation on reverse.
