Description
STRASBURG, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE CANNING / TOBACCO JAR WITH COVER, salt-glazed, approximately one-quart capacity, cylindrical form with deep incised shoulder ring and collared, squared rim with inner flange for the original cover. Brushed cobalt dropped feather decoration repeated five times around shoulder. Probably the pottery of Jeremiah Keister (1829-1901), Strasburg, VA. 1857-1870. 7 1/2" H, 3 3/8" D rim.
Undamaged. Several kiln firing touch marks, as made.
