Description
Roman, Imperial Period, Eastern Mediterranean region, ca. 1st to 2nd century CE. A beautiful cast bronze, elaborately decorated vessel with a small loop handle and a rolled out, gently curving rim. The body is decorated with a lower gadroon-paneled, tapered bulbous body; on the shoulder is an upper band of leafy vine decoration with beaded borders. The bronze walls are remarkably thin, emphasizing the quality of metalwork and decoration. Made for holding and pouring precious liquids. Size: 4.25" H (10.8 cm)
