Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero, ca. 400 to 200 BCE. A beautiful strand of dozens of hand-carved, hand-polished, and hand-drilled jade beads presenting rich hues of verdant green, in barrel, tubular, and lozenge shapes, the largest as an attractive central pendant, with ten white shell disk-shaped beads at the back of the neck. Strung with a twine cord. To the ancients of Mesoamerica, jade symbolized life, fertility, and power and was oftentimes revered more than gold. Size: 26.5" L (67.3 cm); largest bead measures 1.5" L x .625" W (3.8 cm x 1.6 cm)
