Slave-Made Edgefield Face Vessel. c. 1860's. Alkaline glazed stoneware, African American kaolin eyes and teeth. Produced by slave potters in Edgefield District, S.C. 6.75" h. Professionally repaired handle and rim, otherwise excellent condition. Provenance: H. Paul Blatner, Savannah, GA, The Acacia Collection and The Old Slave Mart Museum.
