A GROUP OF FORTY-EIGHT PIECES OF STAFFORDSHIRE BLUE AND WHITE TRANSFER PRINTED POTTERY, CIRCA 1814-1910, comprising twenty-seven "opaque china" dinner plates by J&W Ridgway with views of Christ Church, Oxford, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire, circa 1814-1830; eleven soup plates by J&W Ridgway with views of Pembroke Hall, Cambridge, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire, circa 1814-1830; an "opaque china" square bowl by J&W Ridgway with views of the Theatre, Printing House, &tc., Oxford, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire, circa 1814-1830; two luncheon plates by J&W Ridgway with views of Clare Hall, Cambridge, Shelton, Hanley, Staffordshire, circa 1814-1830; a serving platter by Ralph Hall from the Select Views series, with views of the Church of St. Charles and the Polytechnic School, Vienna, Germany, Turnstall, Staffordshire, circa 1836; a dinner plate attributed to George Jones & Sons with a scene from the Costumbres Espanoles, Stoke-on-Trent, circa 1891-1910; an oval two handled serving tray with fishers along a river bank with a country house, bridge, and church in the background with wild rose border, unknown maker, Staffordshire, circa 1830-1840; and a group of four Flow blue small plates with a couple walking along a river bank with churches in the background, unknown maker, Staffordshire, circa 1840-1850.
Condition
In varying states of condition: Ridgway views of Christ Church: fourteen in good condition, four with heavy staining and crackle, nine with old repaired cracks/breaks; Ridgway Pembroke Hall: ten in good condition, one with old repaired crack/break; Ridgway views of Theatre Printing House...: old break repaired with staples; Ridgway views of Clare Hall: good condition; Hall view of Church of St. Charles: good condition; Costumbres Espanoles: good condition; Oval dish: heavy staining and crackle; Flow-blue small plates: three in good condition, one with several chips to the rim.
