Antique figural gilded bronze double inkwell pen rest with candleholder. Measuring a total of 9.5" wide x 9" tall to top of candleholder, and 5.5" deep. Two covered inkwells flank a central figure of a boy holding a vine form candleholder. Down in front of the boy is a hat which is hinged and lifts to reveal a small compartment. On the back there is a small reservoir for a personalized engraving. There is a personalization engraved, but it is worn away and cannot seem to be read. Branch-form pen rest at the front. Each inkwell has a cut ruby crystal insert. The rim of each insert is marked with purity and maker's marks. Condition: wear to engraving on back, minor signs of normal use and age, some wear to gilding, each insert has very minor roughness/flakes to edges, see images. Weight: 5.5 lbs.
