Native American, Southwest, New Mexico, Acoma and Cochiti Pueblos, ca. 1950 CE. A wonderful pair from two indigenous cultures of the American Southwest, the Acoma and the Cochiti. First, a polychrome terracotta bowl with twin bird heads emerging from opposite sides of the rim, the exterior walls below boasting an attractive red-on-black diamond patterned register over a white ground with a black lined rim. Next, a polychrome vessel presenting mesmerizing black on white stylized geometric motifs on most of the body with a red band from the Cochiti Pueblo, whose premier potters are also known for their ceramic storyteller dolls. Size: Acoma bowl measures 6" W x 3.625" H (15.2 cm x 9.2 cm); Cochiti piece measures 3.125" W x 2.625" H (7.9 cm x 6.7 cm)
